Sol was walking from his home to the Academy for the third day since he started there. He adjusted his glasses as he walked, and then stopped, as he noticed a few figures standing in his way up the road. It was the ones that were bullying Dekasake the day before... and they were grinning, cracking their fists. The naive Sol didn't understand what was going on, but he started to back away, a shiver running down his spine.
"What's the matter, Kage? My mom told me all about you and your Clan... she even told me how my father was murdered by the Kage Clan! She told us not to fight but... after she told me this yesterday, do you think I'm... we are going to allow you to become a Shinobi of the Village?! Why raise another murderer? This is no longer the Village Hidden in the Bloody Mist! You are an artifact of the past! And your so called 'dreams' end here!" One of them announced, as they all ran towards Sol.
Sol tried to reach for his Kunai, but his arm was shaking. Both in fear and in shock. His Clan were murderers? Had he... been lied to? Soon his assailants were upon him. He tried to stop the one that talked to him before, but Sol wasn't very physically strong, nor was he any good at Taijutsu, and his punch was easily stopped. The boy then grinned as he punched Sol hard in the stomach. He was punched so hard that he began to cough up blood. The kids weren't done with him though, and they continued to beat the defenseless Sol. Sol was beginning to lose consciousness, as his own blood trickled around him... he felt like he was going to die.... and then blackness.
By the time he woke up, he was in the hospital being treated. There was a Jounin standing next to him that he recognized as the one who talked to Kanryu-Sensei during the first day. He felt for his glasses slowly, as he was still in pain, and felt that they were still somehow in one piece.
"So, I see you're finally awake. I stopped those kids before they could kill you. You're lucky I happened to be passing by," Mikagami-sensei said, although there wasn't much kindess to his voice.
"...why?" Sol managed to say, though he still felt groggy.
"I didn't do it for you. I was almost tempted to let those kids kill you, and claim that I arrived too late. The Mizukage may trust you, but I certainly don't. Most people in this Village don't. That is your destiny as a member of the Kage Clan. They weren't very...trustworthy afterall. And you have yet to prove yourself otherwise. The reason I saved you though was because of my student, Dekasake Roshito. He claims you were kind to him, and I was surprised you stopped those kids from picking on him. But now it looks like they have their eyes set on you instead. I should be asking you why." Mikagami replied.
"Because...he's like me...that's what I feel, anyways...eyes that hide sorrow..."
Mikagami's eyes widened at this, and he smiled slightly, "I see. Kanryu-kun said that you probably wouldn't want this to slow down your training, so I brought your text books. You can read those while you rest here."
"Thank you... I'm sorry, I don't...?"
"Mikagami. Mikagami Tokiya."
"Thank you, Mikagami-sensei. I'd like... to be alone for now though."
"That's fine, I have to get back to my class anyways. Take it easy... and try not to freeze up next time." Mikagami said as he got up.
Mikagami took one final glance at Sol out of the corner of his eye, a frown on his face, 'A pity... if only you were really like that... if only that wasn't just the seal talking... I might've been able to believe the words you said. My debt is paid...' He thought to himself as he walked back to the Academy.
Sol watched him leave and he then adjusted his glasses as he opened his text book and began to study... another icy cold shiver running through his spine... The Ice Cold Grip of Fear.
