Tomorrow we can do our next mission, and we're gonna do a C rank

As the Raikage heard the Ishikawa twins demand a C Rank Mission, he looked at them strangely. Tanaka condescended the two, "You two are but green Genin! C Ranks are a lot more dangerous!"
The Raikage looked at the two before he spoke, "If you wish, I will tell you what the Mission will entail. You may then refuse it if you wish, in favour of a D Rank. You must escort a merchant from here to the Country of Wind. He is expecting to be attacked along the way. It will be a lot more dangerous, and frankly, I think you two are a bit too unexperienced for this. Are you certain you wish to try?"

"Hey, don't treat us like little kids!" Kazuki snapped back at the two. "We may have just graduated, but we're still genin, we have the right to take on C rank missions! Don't underestimate us, Tanaka-sensei! We're doing the mission and we'll succeed too, just watch.."

The two of them sighed, "Very well, it may teach you a valuable lesson. Tanaka, you will go with them to get them out of trouble," The Raikage said.
"Yes, Raikage-sama," Tanaka responded.
They then went outside and met the Merchant that they were to escort just outside the village. It was a young man, in a horse drawn carriage.
The merchant looked at the Twins and then looked back at Tanaka, "They're just kids... can I trust my life to them?"
Tanaka sighed a bit, "Don't worry. I'm a Jounin, and I'll protect you should the need arise."
"That's slightly more reassuring. Thanks. Let's go then..." They would then set off for the Wind Country.

Kazuki scowled at his sensei and the old merchant, not taking very kindly to their comments. "We're not deaf you know..." He said, noticably irritated. "There you go underestimating us again.. I'll show you Tanaka-sensei."
Turning to his sister, who had been quiet this whole time, he leaned in close to her, cupping a hand near her ear as he whispered to her. "Can you believe it? The Raikage and even Tanaka-sensei think we're useless... we'll have to put forth our best performance."

Tanaka sighed again, "It's not that I think that you're useless. It's just that you're inexperienced. You're getting awfully cocky, and cocky ninjas often find themselves in body bags."

Kazuki mellowed out a bit at this comment. Tanaka was jounin after all, she'd seen far more battle than he had and was far more experienced than he. Still, he felt a little annoyed at being taken so lightly. "I'm sorry Tanaka-sensei... maybe I'm not that experienced. But do you really think I can't handle a C-rank? That's a little harsh." He couldn't see what all the fuss was about really. All the D rank missions were little things that were barely a challenge. Surely a C-rank couldn't be that hard.

"The D Ranks are so that you can see where your weak points are and then improve upon them. We will probably be up against other, more experienced Genins. I can keep their Jounin away from you guys, but you two would have to take care of the Genins. Which probably won't be an easy task," Tanaka replied.

Kazuki's eyes widened at this remark. "Other genin? I thought we'd be keeping away highway bandits or something... why would there be genin attacking a merchant? And jounin too? What kind of business are you running?" Kazuki was becoming more uneasy as they went. He didn't want to seem weak in front of their employer or to his sister, but he secretly wished he'd listened harder to the Raikage.

The Merchant looked at Tanaka for a second, "Um, I'm carrying a prototype poison..."
Tanaka then nodded, "Yes... so it is likely that a Genin team may be hired to try and obtain his goods."

Kazuki's pace slowed a little bit as his mind processed the information his sensei was telling him. He slowly began to hang back, his enthusiasm drained and he tapped the jounin on her shoulder. "Tanaka-sensei... I'm not too sure about this... I thought we'd be fighting some useless thugs, not other ninja.. maybe you were right." He said to her softly so the merchant couldn't hear. He stared down at his feet, feeling incredibly foolish for not having listened to her advice in the first place.

Tanaka nodded at him, then looked at Ayame, "What's your opinion, Ayame?"

Ayame would sigh slightly, Her brother had tryed to bring her in this mission without even asking for her opinion.. and she would shake her head slightly as asking for her opinion would indeed be quite bad.
"I had no intention on performing a C rank right away, Tanaka-sensei.. I'm only here to see you to the gate of the village, I won't go further since I don't think I'm ready to face this yet.."
she would turn her back to them a moment before adding
"I can't even master some important skills. I would be useless on this mission, canon fooder.. "
Of course it was all misdirection, she indeed wanted a challenge, but she believed it would be good in due time, and better not throw herself into this foolishly, she was a cold planner, And would leave them at the gate, in order to go and make take a D rank mission on her own, in order to train..

Despite me thinking that Ayame just backed out because she saw what Elli had to fight, I suppose I can only fail Kazuki for this Mission.
Since Kazuki backed out, he doesn't lose any days, but gets -10 Reputation and the mission counts as a failure.
A different squad was sent on the Mission instead.
